By downloading, installing, or using Ollama Herd, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
2. What Ollama Herd Is
Ollama Herd is open-source software (MIT License) that routes AI inference requests across multiple devices running Ollama on a local network. It includes a router, node agents, a web dashboard, and command-line tools.
The software runs entirely on your own hardware. There is no hosted service, no cloud component, and no account system.
3. License
Ollama Herd is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with the license terms. The full license text is available in the LICENSE file.
4. Eligibility
Ollama Herd is developer infrastructure software. There are no age restrictions or account requirements. Anyone may download and use it.
5. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- The hardware and network on which you run Ollama Herd
- The AI models you download, load, and serve through the fleet
- The content of prompts sent to and responses received from your fleet
- Securing your network if you expose the router beyond your LAN
- Compliance with applicable laws regarding AI model usage in your jurisdiction
- Any modifications you make to the source code
6. Acceptable Use
You may use Ollama Herd for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:

- Redistribute the software under a different license in violation of the MIT License
- Misrepresent Ollama Herd as a product of any entity other than Geeks in the Woods, LLC
- Use our trademarks, logos, or branding without permission (the MIT License covers the code, not the brand)
7. AI Models and Content
Ollama Herd routes requests to models you choose to run. We do not provide, host, or control any AI models. The models you use are subject to their own licenses and terms (e.g., Meta's Llama License, Mistral's Apache License, etc.).
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of AI models complies with their respective licenses and any applicable regulations.
8. No Warranty
The software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- That routing decisions will be optimal in all cases
- Compatibility with all hardware, operating systems, or Ollama versions
- The accuracy, quality, or safety of AI model outputs routed through the fleet
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Geeks in the Woods, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

- Hardware damage from sustained compute workloads
- Incorrect, harmful, or unexpected AI model outputs
- Network security incidents resulting from exposed endpoints
- Business interruption or lost revenue
Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the software shall not exceed the amount you paid for it (which is zero — it's free and open source).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Geeks in the Woods, LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the software, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
11. Open Source Contributions
Contributions to Ollama Herd (pull requests, issues, patches) are governed by the MIT License. By submitting a contribution, you agree that your contribution may be distributed under the same license.
12. Third-Party Software
Ollama Herd depends on open-source libraries (FastAPI, httpx, aiosqlite, psutil, etc.) and interacts with Ollama. These are governed by their own licenses and terms. We are not responsible for third-party software behavior.
13. Termination
These terms apply for as long as you use the software. You may stop using Ollama Herd at any time by uninstalling it. We may update these terms at any time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alaska, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Alaska, except where prohibited by law.
